Albany Park has one of the most diverse populations among other Chicago neighborhoods. It has become a port-of-entry to Chicago for new arrivals from other countries. The area is 26% Asian, 31% Hispanic and 12% Arab and around 47% was born in another country. Albany Park residents now speak more than 30 different languages. Due to the attraction by ethnic groups, the population of this neighborhood has expanded more than 25% in past two decades.
The "Main Street" and commercial hub of the community is Lawrence Avenue. This street in the heart of the neighborhood is renamed “ Seoul Drive” because of its collection of Korean-owned businesses. Approximately 45% of the businesses in this neighborhood are Korean-owned.
