Jefferson Park is a diversely populated neighborhood located between Downtown Chicago and O'Hare International Airport. It extends roughly 1 mile in radius from the cross sections of Milwaukee Avenue and Lawrence Avenue.
Jefferson Park was originally know as "The Gateway to Chicago", however, in more recent years, it is known as "A city inside a city". The neighborhood was founded by John Kinzie Clark in 1830 and was followed by hunters, traders, and farmers. Abram Gale built Jefferson Park's first frame house. THe dimensions were 18 by 34 feet, costing only 75 dollars!
Over the many years, Jefferson Park has grown to a population of 40,000 people. Being centrally located, Jefferson Park became a transportation hub when the CTA blue line built their station. Now, serving 10,000 commuters daily, it connects to The Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line and over 80 CTA and Pace busses.
