Named for the city's largest park, Lincoln Park has a lot to offer. The neighborhood is considered the shining star of city’s lakefront neighborhoods. Lincoln Park was originally settled in the 1850's by German immigrants. It is one of Chicago's oldest communities and considered the current yuppie center of Chicago.

Lincoln Park has the oldest zoo in the country, a botanical conservatory, and city's most popular beaches. Lincoln Park contains playgrounds, golf courses, tennis courts, boating facilities, open areas for football, baseball, soccer, horseback riding. The neighborhood is also known for its theaters including the famous Second City and Steppenwolf Theatre. There are many festivals happening during spring and Summer seasons. One of Lincoln Park's unique features is that it is also a university town. DePaul University has over 16,000 students on downtown and Lincoln Park campuses. Coffeehouses, neighborhood taverns, antiques shops and bookstores help give the DePaul neighborhood the look and feel of a small university town.

Lincoln Park has gained a reputation as one of the most suitable Chicago neighborhood to raise a family. However, Lincoln Park is not just for families. The neighborhood is frequented by young professionals and DePaul University students mainly because of its thriving nightlife.

Several high-rise apartment buildings with park and lake views run along the edge of the park. Many homes in Lincoln Park are brownstones and graystones, a significant number of which have been turned into condominiums. Lincoln Park offers variety of housing options including Victorian three-flats, contemporary townhouses, condos, vintage mansions and high-rises overlooking Lake Michigan. Real estate prices range from very expensive to surprisingly affordable, depending on the type of property and specific area of the community.

CTA buses run on Fullerton, Halsted, Ashland, Diversey Parkway, Clark and Lincoln Avenues. The Red, Brown and Purple El Lines stop at North, Sedgewick, Armitage, Fullerton and Diversey stops. Quick entry points also exist to jump on to Lake Shore Drive or the I-90/94 heading toward O'Hare, Milwaukee or Indiana.
