North Center is at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Irving Park Road, and Damen Avenue. North Center is well-known for German and Swedish ethnicity, good schools and accessible transportation. Its highly rated schools and affordable prices make North Center one of the most desired neighborhoods in Chicago. Many first-time home buyers buy houses here for the opportunity to live close to downtown for a cheaper price than normal.
The neighborhood has a lot to offer for entertainment. Bowling alleys, diners and clubs are in abundance. There is a good mix of chain retail stores, nostalgic storefronts and small boutiques. Festivals are especially fun during spring and summer.
There are many elegant Victorian-style homes in the area. Frame homes, condos, flats, and newer constructions are very popular in North Center. Quiet, tree-lined streets add more flavor to this beautiful Chicago neighborhood. Homes are priced around high 200’s to low 300’s.
