The Chicago neighborhood of Old Town was settled in the mid 1800's by a wave of German farmers. Old Town is located south of the Lincoln Park area and just east of the Gold Coast. Old Town offers rich artistic cultural experiences to its residents and visitors. Rents are cheaper than it is in Gold Coast, but it is still more expensive than most areas of the city.
Transportation is plentiful as the El Purple and Brown lines stops at Sedgewick and Armitage. The Red line stops at North & Clybourn and Clark & Division. CTA buses run along almost all major streets.
Old Town is well-known for its quality academic facilities and private schools. Old Town’s newest educational resource is the Walter Payton College Prep High School attended by an elite group of students.
The Chicago Historic Museum takes residence here. The annual Old Town art fair is held here. The infamous Second City comedy which generated many world-famous comedians is also located here.
