Ravenswood is one of Chicago's first planned neighborhoods. 20% of Lincoln Square has been designated as a historic preservation district. There are about 45,000 residents living in this area. The population is a mix of different nationalities and economic backgrounds. Today, it is popular for its affordable single-family homes, multi-family units and condominiums. Ravenswood and Lincoln Square are characterized by brick bungalows and two- and three-flats.
There are small shops and outdoor cafés to appeal to a family-oriented crowd. Apple Fest and Farmer's Market draw visitors every summer. Ravenswood is a beautiful area with tree-lined streets and parks, and the rapid transit system connects it to the Loop.
