Uptown extends from Irving Park (4000 N) to Foster Avenue (5200 N) and Lake Michigan o Ashland Avenue (1600 W). It includes zip codes 60613 and 60640, and Buena Park, Clarendon Park, Graceland, Graceland West, Margate Park and Sheridan Park neighborhoods.
Uptown had its up and downs in the past. It was originally developed as a summer resort in the late 19th century. In the 1920’s and 1930’s, it was a center of nightlife. Even Al Capone hung out in Green Mill in Uptown. After the Second World War, theaters closed, and residents moved to neighboring communities.
Uptown Homes for Sale
The neighborhood has revitalized over the last couple of decades. The Chicago neighborhood of Uptown just a few years ago did not have a great reputation, but not anymore. Residents who bought homes here 5 years ago are seeing their property values increase immensely. Last year, the median home price increased from $190,000 to $215,000.
Uptown Theatre, Riviera and Aragon Ballroom are some of still standing and representing the theatre history of the town.

Uptown MLS Search
The CTA Red and Purple lines run though the middle of the neighborhood with stops at Argyle, Lawrence, Wilson, and Sheridan. Busses run on most major streets.
