The intersection of Damen, Milwaukee and North avenues is the center for the area and much of the commercial boom is centralized here. Art and commerce peaceably co-exist. Most of the gallery action is located here. Value shops can also be found here along with a few boutiques.
West Town is truly one of the most lovely neighborhoods in Chicago. The numerous churches are the centers of community activity, and the locals gather at bakeries and delis found on every corner. This area is ethnically diverse where distinctions between religion, language, and nationality play an important role.
West Town, built more than a century ago, is an example among many in Chicago of the resurgence in vintage neighborhood living. These old neighborhoods are now being redeveloped into modern living environments, complete with new retail and other local amenities.
